Blockchain developers are warning about a "horrific" bill from Google Cloud's BigQuery. An anonymous developer stated that they usually only pay a few hundred USD each month, but suddenly received a charge of 18,000 USD for just three queries on Solana, with each query costing over 5,000 USD. After complaining, the fee was reduced to 4,000 USD per instance.

Many people in the cryptocurrency industry accuse BigQuery of implementing a "trap" charging mechanism by not allowing hard cost limits. Ermin Nurovic, co-founder of Flat Money, criticized that if the function is infinitely repetitive, users will suffer losses of thousands of USD.

Solana integrated BigQuery in October 2023, enabling the retrieval of blockchain data such as whale transactions or NFT sales. However, another developer was also charged 5,000 USD for a single query and was only refunded after filing a complaint. This pricing model is considered unfeasible for AI.
