Bitcoin Outperforms Gold by Over 13,000% — 'Let the Numbers Speak', Experts Say

According to financial statistics shared by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Ted, Bitcoin has been bullish significantly over the past 10 years compared to gold, with an incredible increase of 13,693%. These figures demonstrate the alarming difference between these two asset types from April 2015 to April 2025. In particular, the incredible bullish trend of Bitcoin has attracted the attention of investors worldwide. Bitcoin vs. Gold: From Parity to Big Gap Ten years ago, the price of gold and Bitcoin were equivalent. In April 2015, Bitcoin fluctuated between $200 to $250, while gold fluctuated between $1,200 to $1,300 an ounce. The fortunes of these investments have been completely different since then. Bitcoin has skyrocketed to around $84,000 per coin, an increase of about 33,500% over a ten-year period. This cryptocurrency briefly peaked at nearly $109,000 during that timeframe. On the other hand, gold still maintains a more reliable image than volatility, rather than providing spectacular increases. This precious metal only increased by 156% during the same period. According to market observers, the value of gold remains anchored on consistent behavior, anti-inflation over a very long period. Historical context proves various growth models. Looking further back shows an even greater disparity in growth rates. According to a market analyst on social media platform X, the price of gold was only $20.67 an ounce in 1933. By 2025, the price has increased slightly, to about $3,330 an ounce; this is indeed a strong increase but a gradual rise over a period of nearly a century.

Bitcoin has a completely different history. From a price of 1 dollar in 2011, it has risen to 84,000 dollars by 2025. With such a rapid bullish rate, both excitement and skepticism have been raised by financial analysts debating the value of such growth spikes.

The absolute difference in size According to analyst Belle, the stark contrast in this behavior is due to the significant difference in their market sizes. Gold has a market capitalization of just over 22 trillion dollars. Due to this large scale, gold provides a stabilizing factor, making the market less sensitive to individual trades or short-term investment flows.

The market capitalization of Bitcoin is around 1.667 trillion dollars—large but still only a small fraction compared to gold. This reduced scale makes Bitcoin more sensitive to capital flows. Gold recently witnessed an impressive increase of 1 trillion dollars in market capitalization in one day, but this is a much smaller percentage increase compared to the same dollar flow that would trigger the value of Bitcoin. The dollar flow is the same, but the price impact is different. Meanwhile, the mathematics of market capitalization creates attractive price volatility scenarios. Based on reported calculations, if Bitcoin has a market capitalization increase of 1 trillion dollars - equivalent to the recent one-day increase in gold - its price per unit could rise from 84,000 dollars to 135,000 dollars.
