Vitalik: The security of Ethereum Rollups should be achieved in three stages, gradually moving towards trustlessness.
On May 6, Vitalik published an article categorizing the security of Ethereum Rollups into three phases: Phase 0: The security council can completely veto the proof system, with centralized control. Phase 1: Intervention requires agreement from 6 out of 8 members, with a threshold for external members, and intervention is limited. Phase 2: Intervention only occurs when verifiable errors happen, and arbitrary decisions cannot be made. He suggested that as trust in the proof system increases, there should be a gradual transition from Phase 0 to Phase 2. Phase 0 has the lowest security and should be avoided for long-term stays. Rollups should at least start from Phase 1, while focusing on the auditing and maturity of the proof system.
