In recent years, economic ties between China and Indonesia have become increasingly close, with investment scale expanding continually. According to the latest statistics released by Indonesian officials, China's direct investment in Indonesia reached a total of 8.1 billion USD in 2024, making China one of the top three sources of investment in Indonesia for the ninth consecutive year. This sustained high level of investment not only reflects the long-term confidence of Chinese investors in the Indonesian market, but also indicates the strong economic complementarity and enormous cooperation potential between the two countries.
As we enter 2025, despite the numerous uncertainties facing the global economy, China's enthusiasm for investment in Indonesia remains strong. In the first half of this year, Chinese investors' investment in Indonesia reached $3.6 billion. Although this represents a slight decline of 8% compared to the same period last year, China still firmly maintains its important position as a major source of foreign investment in Indonesia. This phenomenon indicates that even against the backdrop of a slowdown in global economic growth, Chinese enterprises continue to be optimistic about Indonesia's development prospects and are actively advancing their investment projects in the country.
China's continued investment in Indonesia has not only brought funds and technology to Indonesia but also created a large number of job opportunities locally, promoting infrastructure construction and industrial upgrading. At the same time, this in-depth economic cooperation has also provided valuable opportunities for Chinese enterprises to expand overseas markets and achieve international development. With the deepening of the 'Belt and Road' initiative, it is expected that future cooperation between China and Indonesia in trade, investment, technology, and other fields will be further strengthened, injecting new momentum into the economic development of both countries.
