SEGA will launch a brand new NFT card game on the Sui chain: "Code of Joker: Evolutions"

The cryptocurrency community (120bTc.coM): SEGA's Code Of Joker game series will land on the game-centric Sui L1 blockchain. Sega has licensed the intellectual property to a third-party company, Jokers, Inc., which is developing the upcoming game.

The new game, based on the old IP of the Japanese anime-style arcade, is called 'Code of Joker: Evolutions'. Players will be able to open card packs and collect Sui NFT on the chain.

Although the world-famous character Sonic the Hedgehog has appeared in the game Code of Joker, it does not seem to appear in Code of Joker: Evolutions at the moment.

Two years ago, Sega's Chief Operating Officer Shuji Utsumi said that Sega would not license its biggest IP to third-party blockchain games or develop its own internal encrypted games. Sega still licenses some game brand IPs to third-party companies. Sega has licensed the 'Sangokushi Taisen' brand to Oasys, a third-party blockchain military card battle game developed by Double Jump Tokyo. The game is expected to be released on March 25th, including NFT cards, and mentions the ability to stake the game's SGC tokens on the website, but the game's crypto capabilities are not explicitly mentioned in the app store description.

Code of Joker Game Background and Market Outlook

Code of Joker is an arcade game released in 2013. Due to its age, it is difficult to find detailed information about the game on the internet. According to messages on its website and X account, the Code of Joker Pocket mobile game ceased service as early as 2018.

The style of Code of Joker: Evolutions is still attractive to players who like nostalgic animations, and old fans of the game may be excited about the new developments in this series.

Regarding whether the game will be released in English, the team stated that they will disclose more details. If the game is only released in Japanese, it may limit reaching a wider market.

Asia plays a crucial role in the Web3 market. According to Grandview Research, 50% of global mobile game revenue will come from the Asia-Pacific region in 2023, with over 1.5 billion mobile game players. Tiger Research also noted that countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Indonesia have recently introduced governance frameworks, laying the foundation for blockchain development. Sony's Soneium has also entered the market, announcing a collaboration with Line for four games.

The detailed information of Code of Joker: Evolutions is still to be announced. The game is expected to be launched in late summer this year on iOS, Android, and web versions.
